- Receive a $1,000 stipend upon completion
- Practice hands-on in MCC’s new state-of-the-art biotech lab
- Get assistance with job searching, resume writing, and interviewing.
Upon completion, students will be able to:
- Describe the critical job functions and product applications in the biotechnology industry.
- Understand cleanroom protocols, gowning procedures, and sterilization practices.
- Recognize laboratory environmental hazards and how to maintain a safe work environment.
- Learn quality control, quality assurance, and good manufacturing practices (GMPs).
- Acquire a knowledge of common raw materials (i.e., biological, chemical, microorganisms), material handling, and storage options.
- Learn inventory protocols and documentation practices.
- Know how to operate, maintain, and repair of common laboratory equipment and machines.
- Learn aseptic technique and its application in cell culturemanufacturing practices.
- Communicate advanced instrumentation techniques in areas of microscopy, material processing, and genetics.
- Understand U.S. regulatory agencies and the stages of clinical trials.
- Acquire professional development skills including resume building, job search techniques, and interviewing practices.
